Domains usually go for 1 dollar or less. That's because people will often keep the domain name for more than 1 year + people usually have a plan with that domain name, and for that they need hosting + eventual other stuff which they will pay for. I see no catch here. Google ".com domain sale" or something and you will see lots of sites selling off .com-domains for a very small amount.
