This isn't a simple thing. I make my living in the Cannabis space in California, it's not as simple as people think. For one the state lied when they proposed legalization, the draft regulations look absolutely nothing like the finalized regulations; additionally, there are over 40 bills currently in the state legislature attempting to change those same regulations. For example, in California, they postponed issuing "Mega Licenses" until 2023 (see Phillip Morris, Nestle or Big Pharma) and there's lobbyists already trying to get that pushed up by 2 years. Right now there are more cannabis lobbyists at the California state capitol actively lobbying for laws/bills they want passed than any other faction, which includes alcohol, tobacco, pharmaceutical, agriculture, guns, etc.....combined. Meaning, if you combined all the people actively lobbying for and against alcohol, tobacco, pharmaceutical, agriculture, guns, etc, they would be outnumbered by cannabis lobbyists. It went from a fringe, somewhat radical issue, to a very, very lucrative one seemingly overnight. And it is FAR from something as simple as legalizing it or decriminalizing it, there's just too much money involved at this point. With money comes corruption, even with something as eclectic as marijuana.

Also, the state didn't collect nearly as much taxation as they projected, so the infrastructure for the regulation of the cannabis industry is YEARS behind because that taxation was supposed to fund regulation, so you have an exploding black/gray market in a state that has historically grown 8-10 times the amount of cannabis it consumes. Simply legalizing cannabis doesn't necessarily make everything easier, there are more people breaking the law now than there ever was when it was only medicinal, by a wide margin.

Absolutely yes, it gives inspiration to invent new ideas take you in another world beyond your own.
Psychedelics should all be legalized but managed in case of miss use.
Prevention breeds more curiosity but if it was legal eventually you test it and you decide whether its for you or not.
Banning it gives it more value to those who take it either it has not stopped its supply.
