When is technology considered old?

My PC is over 10 years old. At the time, it was state of the art. I still use windows 7. My friends say I'm in the stone age but it still runs well.

How old is too old?

If it still does what you need then it's fine, it does what you need so no issues there.

If it performs any critical functions then it should be replaced, if it broke then you would be in a hole and it's more likely to due to age.

Take those two points above and work it out.

I have a 10 year old machine that still runs up to date software fine, but it's not the one I use daily, when I built it it was top spec, so that should be considered too, was your machine top line to start with or a basic machine.
