Will Crypto Currency last?

My feeling is that these are a fad and will continue to fade through 2019 and beyond. What are your thoughts?

My main reasons are because
  • Not enough mainstream adoption
  • The big miners are out to help themselves and screw everyone else
  • Regular people dont understand it well enough to trust their hard earned money to it

Third reason is correct. :)
4. reason is expensive equipment for regular people.

Thanks for your agreement! But I think that most people dont need to own mining equipment to use bitcoin, just like now we dont mine gold for backing paper currency. But at least we understand the value of its exchange. What are crypto mined keys worth compared to real gold?

At the moment, there are not enough people interested in crypto currency because they still consider it a global scam.

I don't believe your opinion, the generation is just constantly adapting and will eventually adapt to it in due time. (a lot of time)

The cryptocurrenies themselves it's true and you are right, a lot of hype mainly for the money it made and won't do so again for normies.

However the concept & technology behind the real game changers will make this world function to a better path, at least that's what it should be for.

The problem is the (lack of) network effect and historical precedent. It's hard for society as a whole to simultaneously ditch established systems and switch to new ones, even when they are clearly superior. Case in point the QWERTY keyboard layout, bloated crapware like Skype, the present Internet architecture, the legacy education system, yada yada, and yes, central banks. Not to mention that all those shitty things are backed by powerful entities who own them and attack newcomers.

As the value of coins continues to drop, their likelihood for going mainstream drops a lot as well. But the technology is here to stay and will be used in a lot of new ideas and variations.

I think Crypto is here to stay .

Whether as a niche market or mainstream adoption ; that remains to be seen.

cryptocurrency is losing it's attraction because of the greed of ours. every 15 year old cracker boy start to invent their own currency without even knowing what curreny means and how trade works. with lot's of e-currencies started trading on it's own, the money spent on e-currencies distrubuted to each of them. Long story short in the end there will more e-currencies from the investors.

It's sad because we have a useful technology. I wonder what other technologies were destroyed by greed?

@laser7 how do you think it will be used? As currency or as something else? Blockchain is a great technology, but it needs a use...
